It’s almost time for the next #1stFriBrekkie this Friday at our office. Last month, Dave O’ Flanagan joined us to talk about Boxever’s funding journey. This month we’re also talking about funding, but from the perspective of not taking any - with Ronan Perceval, CEO of Phorest.
At the office we’re meeting more and more founders who are eschewing early stage funding, and in some cases, funding at any stage, in favor of organic growth. Startup tourists or “wantapreneurs” find the organic route hard to fathom. It also tends to be a much less interesting story for the media. It’s tough to build a compelling headline out of steady as she goes!
The funding equation is different for every company at every stage in their business, but we often lack the education or motivation to do the math and explore all the options. Funding is also about so much more than just the numbers. Ronan and his co-founders had global ambitions from day one. But they also wanted to build a business for the long term and so far they’re 11 years, 80+ employees and € 10M in annual revenues ahead.
This Friday’s Brekkie is going to be another goodie so get there early. The discussions you hear and have there may actually shake up your thinking, and help to illuminate the purpose of your own entrepreneurial adventure.
